"More than 1,400 colleges throughout the United States annually participate in the program, which recognizes outstanding students on the basis of scholarship, leadership ability, character and community service," said Dr. Carla Sanderson, Union's provost and vice president for academic affairs.

The students were honored in a special recognition chapel during the month of May.
