Hymn festival to begin Union worship conference

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 5, 2008 – A hymn festival Feb. 14 at First Baptist Church in Jackson will kick off Union University’s Baptist Worship Identity Project and Symposium that will run through Feb. 16.

The festival will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is open to the public. Ronald Boud, professor of music at Union, and Donald Hustad, senior professor of church music and worship at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., will lead the music for the hymn festival.

George Guthrie, Benjamin W. Perry Professor of Bible at Union, will speak on “The Biblical Foundations of Worship.”

The Union University Singers will also be on the program for the hymn festival.
