JACKSON, Tenn. – April 23, 2008– Union University’s Students In Free Enterprise team will compete in the national SIFE competition in Chicago the week of May 12, after winning its 14th straight regional competition March 20 in Atlanta, Ga.
The 39 colleges and universities that competed in the regional competition were divided into seven leagues. Union competed against Southern Adventist University, Kennesaw State University, Bryan College, Alabama State University and Fort Valley State University in its league.
SIFE chapters are judged mainly on the projects they complete during the year. Among the projects completed by the Union chapter of SIFE were the annual Junior SIFE competition, in which sixth graders from Madison County come to Union’s campus for a trade show and marketing competition; the SIFE Squares game show; and “Teach a Child to Learn, Teach a Child to Earn,” in which Union SIFE students collect and distribute books to children at Whitehall Elementary School.
