JACKSON, Tenn. – Aug. 11, 2008– The USA Network is scheduled to carry coverage of the United States vs. Mali women’s basketball game from the Beijing Olympics on Wednesday morning, Aug. 13.
The Mali team’s leading scorer is former Union Lady Bulldog Djenebou “DJ” Sissoko, who graduated in May with a degree in business administration.
The game is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. CDT. But a spokeswoman for the network’s programming area said portions of the game could air throughout Wednesday morning, depending upon other events at the Olympics and the live feeds received from Beijing.
As of Monday morning, Sissoko was the second-leading scorer among all women in the Olympic basketball competition, averaging 19.5 points per game. She also ranks eighth in rebounding.
In another programming note of interest to the Union community, the Discovery Channel announced a last-minute postponement of its Monday evening airing of the program “Tornado Rampage.”
The hour-long documentary will feature a segment on Union University’s February tornado. Discovery Channel Vice President of Communications Joshua Weinberg said the new air date has not been determined, but is likely during the month of September.
