JACKSON, Tenn.March 19, 2009 – Led by Josephine Owino’s 22 points, the Union University Lady Bulldogs cruised to an 86-58 win over Jarvis Christian College Wednesday in the opening round of the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship.

The top-ranked and top-seeded Lady Bulldogs, now 33-1 on the season, will play Lindsey Wilson College Friday at 6:15 p.m.

The No.3-seeded Union Bulldogs (28-5) open play in the men’s national tournament today, with a 12:30 game against the unseeded University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Kansas City, Mo.

Union Coach Ralph Turner was named the 2009 coach of the year by the NAIA and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
