JACKSON, Tenn. – June 19, 2009 – Union University will host an exhibit and a dessert reception for alumni and friends during the Southern Baptist Convention's annual meeting in Louisville, Ky., June 23-24.
The 14th annual dessert reception is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, at 8:30 p.m. in room B-105 on the ground level of the Kentucky Exposition Center, which is hosting the SBC meeting.
During the reception, Union President David S. Dockery will present the M.E. Dodd Denominational Service Award to Albert Mohler, president of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
The M.E. Dodd award is given annually to a leader within the Southern Baptist Convention who displays excellence and leadership in Southern Baptist life, as well as friendship and commitment to Union University. Past recipients include Jimmy Draper (2004), Adrian Rogers (2005), Morris Chapman (2006), Frank Page (2007), Thom Rainer (2008).
Union also will host an exhibit at the Kentucky Exposition Center during the meeting. Complimentary dessert reception tickets, enrollment information and representatives from faculty and staff will be available at the exhibit from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 12, and Tuesday, June 13. Exhibit hours are 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14.
Union President David S. Dockery will sign copies of his newest book, “Southern Baptist Identity,” from 10-11 a.m. June 22 at the LifeWay Christian Store on site at the meeting.
Due to inclement weather, all Union campuses will be closed on Thursday, March 5, with all day classes canceled.
A decision on evening classes at Jackson and Germantown will be made by noon on Thursday. Hendersonville evening classes are canceled.
The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.
Friday's Preview Day has been canceled.
