Guthrie, Lawless to speak in Union chapel this week

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 31, 2009 – George Guthrie, the Benjamin W. Perry Professor of Bible at Union, and Chuck Lawless, dean of the Billy Graham School of Missions and Evangelism at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky., will speak in chapel services at Union University this week.

Guthrie will speak Sept. 2, and his message is entitled “Words, God’s Word, and the Year Ahead,” based on Deuteronomy 32:44-47. Lawless will speak Sept. 4. His message, based on Luke 22:31-62 is entitled “The Triumph of the Word over the Tragedy of a Fall.”

Each chapel service will begin at 10 a.m. in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. The services are open to the public.

Union University Announcement for March 5

Due to inclement weather, all Union campuses will be closed on Thursday, March 5, with all day and evening classes canceled.

The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.

Friday's Preview Day has been canceled.

Nathan Shoemaker's junior recital has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Hartley Recital Hall.

Brewer Dining Hall will be open from 11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. for continuous service.
