JACKSON, Tenn.March 12, 2010 – A 72-page Provost Report newly published by Union University examines some of the university’s key academic pursuits as it integrates the Christian faith with scholarly endeavors.

“This Provost Report highlights what is possible when students and faculty connect the best of our Christian intellectual tradition to some of the greatest challenges of our day,” Union Provost Carla Sanderson writes in the report’s introduction.

“Our learning community sees higher education as a source of hope for reform, as a platform for meeting human needs in times of crisis, and as an incubator for growing skills of effective cultural engagement.”

Featured in the report are stories about faculty members who meet regularly and informally to discuss challenging philosophical questions, Union students who have excelled in top-level law schools, medical relief efforts by Union nursing faculty and students in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake, prestigious awards won and books written by Union faculty, international study tours and many others.

The report can be viewed at www.uu.edu/academics/provost/#provostreport, or by following the link at the bottom of Union’s home page at www.uu.edu.
