Willow Ceremony at Union University Germantown to honor nurse practitioners

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 6, 2010 – To celebration National Nurse Practitioner Week Nov. 7-13, the School of Nursing at Union University Germantown will hold a Willow Ceremony Nov. 11 at the Germantown campus.

The ceremony is a way to honor Union’s nurse practitioner students and preceptors, said Patsy Crihfield, associate professor of nursing at Union University Germantown.

“Union began observing the ceremony in 2008,” Crihfield said. “The willow tree could symbolize nurse practitioners in that they are both strong, but have flexibility to reach out. The nurse practitioner is often the first health care provider many people in rural and remote areas will see.”

The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Crihfield at (901) 312-1907.
