Lawler to lecture at Union Oct. 27

JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 25, 2011 – Berry College professor Peter Lawler will lecture at Union University Oct. 27 on the future of American individualism.

Lawler is the Dana Professor of Government at Berry College (Ga.)and author or editor of 15 books and more than 200 articles and chapters. He won the 2007 Weaver Prize in Scholarly Letters and served on President Bush’s Council on Bioethics from 2004-2009. His lecture is entitled “The Road to Serfdom Doesn’t Lead to Serfdom.”

“Peter Lawler is one of the most insightful and incisive observers of contemporary culture and politics,” said Micah Watson, director of the Union’s Center for Politics and Religion, which is hosting the event. “I predict he will offer us a witty, erudite, and at times uncomfortable analysis of our common social predicament.”

The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. in room D-3 in the Penick Academic Complex. It is free and open to the public.
