JACKSON, Tenn. – Oct. 17, 2001– Union University enjoyed a week of renewal and revival marked with chapel services this week led by musician Jeff Berry and speaker Matt Chandler from Beltway Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas.
In one of the five services given during the week, Chandler spoke on Ephesians 1 and focused on helping students to see what their destiny as Christians were. He urged students to realize that God knew them from the beginning of time and wanted nothing more than for them to be His sons and daughters in Christ. Chandler gave the students reassurance that despite the many times they fail, God, like an earthly parent, does not focus on their falls, but rather on the steps they take.
“God wants to fill us so that we can become like Him,” Chandler said. “When this happens, it brings joy. That’s what God wants for us – joy.”
