Princeton Review names Union one of Southeast’s top colleges

JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 9, 2013 – Union University is one of the best colleges in the Southeast, according to The Princeton Review.

Union is one of 138 institutions The Princeton Review recommends in its “Best in the Southeast” section of its website feature, “2014 Best Colleges: Region by Region,” that posted Aug. 5 on PrincetonReview.com.

In the profile of Union on its site, The Princeton Review describes the university as “an institution of higher learning grounded in a Christian world and life view.”

“To be included once again among the prestigious list of institutions identified as the Best in the Southeast by The Princeton Review speaks volumes about the quality of Union's faculty, staff and academic programs,” Union President David S. Dockery said. “I congratulate the entire Union community on this special recognition.”

Institutions chosen for this recognition must pass The Princeton Review’s standards for academic excellence based on data collected in administrator surveys and on opinions of the publication’s staff and counselors and advisers whose opinions they solicit. The Princeton Review also takes into account what each school’s students reported about their campus experiences in a survey.

The 138 colleges The Princeton Review chose for its “Best in the Southeast” designations are located in 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.

Collectively, the 644 colleges named to the four regional lists constitute about 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges.
