Union University will host child abuse awareness seminar

JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 7, 2002 – A group of social work students from Union University will host a Child Abuse Awareness Seminar on Monday, Nov. 25 from six to eight p.m. in the Coburn Dining Room in Union’s Student Union Building.

The featured speaker at the seminar is DeLaine Bottoms, associate director of the Carl Perkins Center. She will address the specifics of child abuse and how to recognize hidden signs of abuse in children.

The seminar is free and open to the public. Students and faculty members from Lane University, Lambuth University, Jackson State Community College in addition to Union have been invited. School teachers and daycare workers who teach young children are also encouraged to attend.

The seminar is co-sponsored by Union’s Department of Sociology and Social Work and the Carl Perkins Center. For more information, call (731) 661- 5064.

Union University Announcement for March 5

Due to inclement weather, the Jackson campus will be closed on Thursday, March 5, with all day classes canceled. A decision on evening classes will be made by noon on Thursday.

The wellness center will open at 10 a.m. and close at 8 p.m., and the aquatic center will be open from 1-3 p.m.
