Pastor of Modern Worship and Media at First Baptist Church of Maryville

The primary duties for the Pastor of Worship and Media will be to lead the modern worship Sunday morning gathering, the worship band, the praise team, the First Impressions greeting ministry, and oversee First Baptist Maryville’s technology, marketing, and graphics. Preferred primary skills would include theological training, music training, a graphics design background, a strong vocal performance, and the ability to organize and administer the backstage details that will create a worship gathering of excellence. While the leadership desires to be culturally relevant and "cutting edge," we are seeking authentic worship over entertainment, the presence of the Holy Spirit over performance, and an overstated Christ-focused, gospel-centered trajectory of worship. We desire to be led in worship by a person who is bold, relational, warm, passionate, genuine, engaging, and who has a contagious, over-the-top energy to lead God's people to shout out praise to the crucified and risen King of Glory. The person selected will be charged not only to fervently lead congregational worship but to also lead God’s people to embrace a life of worship without division for the sacred and secular in a manner that recognizes the Christian home as the starting point of worship. We also recognize church is a family, and although we seek to maintain a high quality of excellence in worship, we would desire a person who can utilize a broad range of individuals with various levels of talent at times. Primary Focus Areas & Skills: • Selecting songs that are theologically rich with a Christ-focused, gospel-centered trajectory; • Instilling a genuine passion for worship in God’s people at First Baptist Maryville; • Enthusiastically engaging the congregation corporately and individually with strong people skills; • Employing a variety of musical genres in a creative style that will become unique to First Baptist Maryville while remaining primarily modern; • Leading the Modern Worship congregational gatherings; • Overseeing the organization and administration of Modern Worship gatherings; • Leading band & Praise Team rehearsals; • Overseeing the First Impressions Ministry; • Designing the graphics & marketing for First Baptist Maryville; • Designing & editing material for website maintenance.
