Forest Cove Nursing & Rehabilitation Center has an urgent need for group and individual volunteers to minister to senior adults. Below are ideas of what we are looking for, but the opportunities are truly endless!

GROUP ACTIVITIES (These activities are held in our facility dining room and last 45 min – 1 hour.) • Lead bingo! We have everything you need. You can bring prizes if you choose. • Host a party! Whether it’s a specific holiday you want to celebrate with the residents or something as simple as an ice cream social, they love parties! • Teach a class! Use what you already know. If someone in your group is educated or knowledgeable in a specific subject, teach the residents! • Play games! Bring board games, cards, dominos, etc. or use what we have on hand. Lead group games like Charades, Pictionary, Headbanz, Catch Phrase, etc. • Host a spa party! Offer makeovers, manicures, hand massages, etc. • Lead arts & crafts! Teach the residents how to draw/paint/sketch, or bring a specific craft to lead the whole group in completing. • Host a dance party or involve residents in another form of exercise! • Provide music or singing! We have a piano available. • And more! Think about what your group has to offer, and turn it into an activity!

INDIVIDUAL ACTIVITIES (These activities are conducted in the resident’s room and last 10-30 min each. Typically in-room volunteers see more than one resident each time they visit, and often they will make 2-3 visits per week if their schedule allows.) • Read scripture or a book of resident’s choice. • Offer hand massage with good smelling lotion. • Sing or play an instrument. • Offer to write letters for a resident who is unable to do so. We can provide postage! • Encourage exercise with balloon or ball toss, dancing, etc. • Ask trivia questions or play games. • Reminisce about yesteryear.
