Union Welcomes Superintendent Zambito

August 6, 2006 - President David Dockery recently hosted a luncheon on behalf of the School of Education for Dr. Nancy Zambito, newly appointed Superintendent of Schools for Jackson-Madison County, and two of her staff, Pam Finney and Debra Owen. Dialogue was rich with perspectives toward enhancing collaboration between JMCSS and Union. In attendance besides the aforementioned leaders were Provost Carla Sanderson, Tom Rosebrough, Ann Singleton, Dottie Myatt, Ralph Leverett, Ken Newman, Nancy Cherry and Gene Fant.

The presentation of the “Ed.D. mug” to Dr. Zambito is significant because it symbolizes the promising future for collaboration between Jackson-Madison County School System and Union University. The Union Ed.D. program presents a mug to doctoral students upon a successful dissertation defense and completion of the degree. The university offers two specializations in Educational Leadership at the doctoral level: School Administration and Higher Education.
