Keystone Program

Parents Monthly Issue - August 2012

August 2012 update

Dear Parents,

As fall quickly approaches, we want to take a moment to remind you of upcoming Keystone events.

The first will be Friday, August 17, New Student Move-In Day. We invite you to join us for breakfast, followed by a mandatory Keystone orientation, which will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m in the Carl Grant Events Center. This breakfast meeting will provide information and material to help understand Union University's policies and procedures, as well as specific aspects regarding the Keystone program. This meeting will conclude before the scheduled time to move your student into the residence complexes. Reservation information should have reached you by mail. If you have not yet made your reservation, please do so by calling 731-661-6568.

Secondly, ALL Keystone students will meet in room D-3 in the Penick Academic Complex (PAC) on Tuesday, August 21. Following this initial meeting of ALL Keystone students, those students who will be participating in the Purposeful Reading course will continue meeting on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:00 a.m in D-3 for the following 4 weeks. If you or your student have any questions regarding Purposeful Reading, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Keystone Academic Support Counselors for more information.

Also on Tuesday, August 21 will be the first evening Gateway course. All students enrolled in Gateway will meet collectively on Tuesday nights for the first four Tuesdays of the semester. This is a requirement of the Gateway course.

Thirdly, your student's weekly Keystone meetings will begin the week of August 27. Information regarding these meetings will be provided during the mandatory Keystone meeting on Monday, August 27 at 10:00 am. Students will sign up for their individual weekly meetings and learn more about that process during this meeting.

We are excited to begin this semester and look forward to a wonderful year with your student! Please refer to this page monthly for updates for upcoming events, academic expectations, and encouragement.

All our best to you as we begin this adventure together,

The Keystone Team
