Advanced Placement (AP) and Transfer Credits
Official test reports and transcripts documenting prior credit should be sent directly to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. As they are received, official documents for students with an active application are forwarded to the Registrar on a weekly basis for evaluation. The evaluation report is emailed to the student in two to three weeks, dependent upon volume; therefore, it is important for the student to request transcripts and reports with the potential of awarding credit by testing be sent to Union as soon as possible.
AP reports are sent directly to the Registrar in mid-July if requested with the test registration. Other reports of AP and those of IB should be directed to the Registrar and will be integrated into the transcripts received for evaluation.

Chapel worship is an integral part of community life at Union and is a time when we give public expression to who we are as a Christ-centered community. Counseling
Office of Counseling Services, Student Life
Counseling services are available for any student needing assistance with personal, emotional, relational, or psychological concerns. These services are provided at no charge to students. Union has master's level social workers and counselors on the counseling staff. All counseling situations are confidential unless a student is in danger to self or others, or a child is in danger. If a student is in danger to self or others or a child is in danger, crisis protocols are followed to seek support and help. A crisis situation can involve sharing information with those who can offer crisis care. Union Counseling Services provides brief, solution-focused counseling, and is not designed to provide long-term care for significant mental illness. Referrals can be provided to local Christian counselors for long-term care. Please consult the Counseling Services website for more information and screening surveys for anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or eating disorders. Appointments may be requested online or by contacting Jennifer Chicantek in the Health and Counseling Clinic by stopping by the waiting rooms on the F hallway of the Penick Academic Complex, e-mailing her at counseling@uu.edu, or phoning her at 731.661.5284.

FERPA
Congress approved and the President signed into law the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. The objective of the Act is to provide students and parents greater access to and control over information contained in educational records. The law stipulates the institution is responsible for making its students aware of the law and its ramifications.
No staff or faculty member can discuss with a parent or anyone else a student's grades, regardless of the age of the student, without the student's signed release. The only exception is a conference with parents or other interested parties that is attended by the student and in which the student agrees to the discussion.
Greek Life
Office of Student Discipleship & Engagement, Student Life
Currently, Union University hosts six national fraternities and sororities on our campus and all six are consistently honored with local and national awards and recognitions. Three groups have male members, and three have female members.
Union's goal is to produce Christian men and women who view life through the lens of Scripture and act accordingly to God-given wisdom and integrity. Greek life at Union seeks to support the university in reaching this goal by developing men and women of integrity.
A number of colleges and universities maintain a passionate dedication to Christian education. Many more feature active Greek organizations that are important to campus life and culture. Union University is a member of the smallest group of schools that has found a way to maintain a Greek system within an educational context that is unashamedly Christ-centered.
If you would like to know more about joining one of these groups or see how they work together to govern themselves and serve the campus and community, read more about the Interfraternity Council, which oversees men's groups, or the Panhellenic Council, which oversees women's groups.
Health Services
Office of Health Services, Student Life
The University Health Clinic is staffed by a full time Family Nurse Practitioner and a Clinic Assistant/Health Records Coordinator. Patients are assessed and treated for acute and chronic illnesses and injuries or referred by the Family Nurse Practitioner for more specialized care when necessary. Our Clinic Assistant and Health Records Coordinator can answer your immunization and healthcare related questions.
The University Health Clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm when classes are in session. The clinic lunch hour is noon to 1 pm daily. Most of our care is provided by appointment. Appointments may be made by email clinic@uu.edu, phone (731) 661-5284, or in person. Additional information is available on our web page. There is no charge for an office visit at the University Health Clinic. Over-the-counter medications that are dispensed by the clinic are also free. There is a nominal fee for lab tests and prescription medications dispensed from the Clinic. Fees for any services received at off-campus medical facilities are the responsibility of the student.
If you have a medical emergency during the night or on the weekend, you should notify the Residence Director. The RD can help you decide where to seek medical attention. Before you come to Union, please make sure you have discussed your health insurance benefits with your parents or are familiar with your own insurance, if you are insured. This is essential in case of referrals to outside agencies for health care.
Visit the Vaccinations section on our Health Services webpage for any vaccine related question. Tennessee-mandated immunizations may be delivered to Health Services via email clinic@uu.edu fax (731-661-5499) or hand delivered in person to our office (or at our booth at New Student Orientation).
For questions related to COVID-19, please see our COVID-19 webpage.

Mailing Services
Union Mailing Services hours are as follows: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 am to 4 pm, and Monday and Thursday from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm during fall and spring semesters. For winter and summer hours, visit uu.edu/mail.
Every student is entitled to receive a campus mailbox without any charge. Most mailboxes are assigned during orientation or can be obtained by visiting the Mailing Services office or emailing postoffice@uu.edu. If students do not drop out for a semester, they will keep the same mailbox number throughout their university career. Residential students must have a Union mailbox. Campus Mail Services can be found in the Student Union Building. Your user profile in University Self-Service will show your student mailbox number, combination, and official university mailing address.
Mail sent to a Union student should use the following template:
Name: | ___________ |
---|---|
Address 1: | UU ________ (Insert Student's Box Number) |
Address 2: | 1050 Union University Drive |
City, State, Zip | Jackson TN 38305 |
Please do not use the words or lettering "Post Office Box" or "P.O. Box." Doing so may cause a delay in mail delivery and may even result in the mail being returned to the sender by the US Postal Service.
Mail is delivered to campus mailboxes every weekday as soon as it is received from the United States Postal Service. If you receive a package, we will send you an email notification to your UU account. To collect the package, simply present your ID card to the post office personnel. If you cannot retrieve your package, you can forward your package notification to a trusted friend, who can pick up your package on your behalf by showing proof of your email at the service window.
Please note that Campus Mail Services has the right to withhold magazines, periodicals, or any other presorted mailings that go against the values of the University. Please refer to the Community Value Statements I.E. in the Campus Life Handbook for more information.
The combination information slip should be kept in a safe place for reference when needed. Students can also find their mailbox combination under their profile in UU Self-Service. Campus mailboxes should be kept locked at all times.
After hours outgoing mail should be placed in the blue postal drop box located on the dock behind Campus Mail Services. Jackson post office personnel pick up the mail at 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Stamps are available for purchase at Mail Services and at Union Station. Campus mail should be placed in the special drop box located on the main corridor wall of the post office. When dropping more than 10 pieces of campus mail, (Christmas cards, Valentines, etc.) arrange them in numerical order by box number and secure them with a rubber band.
Campus organizations, fraternities, and sororities should make special arrangements to post notices to their membership. The postal clerk may require a sample of material being posted.
When a student leaves for the summer or winter term, it is the student's responsibility to give correspondents a temporary forwarding address. Campus Mail Services does not handle temporary forwarding of mail. A permanent forwarding address should be left when the student graduates or withdraws.
