
June 2, 2015 - Dr. Dottie Myatt, Assistant Dean for Teacher Education and Accreditation at Union University,was recently honored for her years of exemplary service in the field of Education, and particularly for her service at Union University. The School of Education unanimously agreed to create its Intern of the Year award in her honor.
June 2, 2015 - Dr. Dottie Myatt, Assistant Dean for Teacher Education and Accreditation at Union University,was recently honored for her years of exemplary service in the field of Education, and particularly for her service at Union University. The School of Education unanimously agreed to create its Intern of the Year award in her honor.
The Dorothy Woodard Myatt Intern of the Year Award was established to honor the intern who, in the judgment of the School of Education, has demonstrated to the highest degree in both university and school classrooms those skills and attributes held to be characteristic of outstanding licensed classroom teachers, and who shows greatest promise of achieving this status in years to come. An award will be given to one Elementary, one Secondary and one Special Education intern.
The Dorothy Woodard Myatt Intern of the Year Award honors Dr. Myatt’s singular and salient leadership in the Educator Preparation Program at Union University. In relation to the service of Dr. Myatt, Executive Dean Rosebrough states, “Her tireless and detailed work enabled the university and the School of Education to receive national accreditation in 2000 as well as two excellent reaffirmation visits since that time. Dottie’s exemplary leadership in clinical experiences for teacher candidates is an integral part of her good work.”
Myatt is a native of Colombia, Tennessee, having received the Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Lambuth University and the Master’s Degree in Education from Union University. She was awarded the Ed.D. in Instruction and Curriculum from the University of Memphis in 2001.
Rosebrough further states, “I am grateful for Dr. Myatt’s work over the last 19 years to help make our Educator Preparation Program and School of Education exemplary. She is committed and passionate about advancing God’s kingdom one good teacher at a time.”
