October 6, 2015 - Dr. Ann Singleton was honored at the most recent School of Education meeting, held on October 5 on the main campus. Singleton was recently named Associate Provost and Dean of Instruction for Union University, subsequently causing her role as Associate Dean in the School of Education to be vacated. She had served in that capacity for over 19 years.
At the meeting, Executive Dean of the College of Education and Human Studies, Dr. Tom Rosebrough, stated, "On behalf of the School of Education, I offer you congratulatory regrets." For Rosebrough and the entirety of the faculty and staff of the School of Education, the phrase summarized the bittersweet sentiment of her transition. Rosebrough further stated, "We honor you today for your years of service to the School of Education even as we anticipate great things from you in your new role."
The time of well-deserved recognition included congratulatory comments, food, well-wishes, and tears. Singleton's daily presence will be missed in the School of Education, even as her service to the university will continue to be a blessing to many.
