Graphic Design Emphasis
The graphic design program at Union University is built with both career outcomes and a Christian worldview in mind. Design students are instructed on how to use the latest industry-relevant software and hardware, paired with industry best practices taught by seasoned graphic design professionals. Students incorporate foundational skills into their major along with motion graphics, typography, branding and identity systems, packaging, layout, web design and UI/UX. Our rigorous critiques and mid-program review focus on character development, solid presentation methods, and critical thinking based in sound Biblical principles.

Our Students
Our students are actively recruited for internships, with placements at both national brands and local advertising agencies. With these internships, students learn how to apply their knowledge to real client work. Additionally, some of our classes have actual client projects built into the curriculum, giving students the chance to have published work in their portfolio upon graduation. Our alumni are making a difference in the world, acting as leaders in both the corporate realm and in their artistic communities.
In community with the Department of Art, our graphic design students enjoy strong bonds with their classmates through an annual weekend retreat and frequent workshops and field trips. We believe in fostering a safe learning environment as we build relationships with each other, our heavenly Father and our greater communities.
Meet Makenna David
"I've always been super attracted to typography design and classic type setting," Makenna David said as we chatted over coffee. "Just kind of learning how to creatively combine those things in the parks prints was how I got into it. I've just fallen in love with it."
