Photojournalism
In the Photojournalism minor, students build a strong visual communication foundation necessary for a variety of career paths through challenges ranging from photo story production to small product and fashion work. Students dive into story-telling photography by setting high standards of understanding photojournalism's role in shaping and reflecting contemporary society. Students would dive into practical work and the organization of their work. Courses involve many variations of portfolio presentation in today's marketplace and the photographs needed to present a well-rounded collection while also displaying a visual truth and interpretation and the impact it has on the audience.
Students have consistently earned top awards at the Southeast Journalism Competition. They also travel to a variety cities visiting professional photographers and photography exhibits. Photojournalism minors have hands-on opportunities to enhance their skills in Cardinal & Cream, University Communications and University sponsored events.
