A group of 12 people representing Union University’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society attended the Jackson Old Hickory Rotary Club Pancake Breakfast on March 15, 2014. They convened at 8:00 a.m. at Andrew Jackson Elementary School, met several Rotary Club members, and enjoyed pancakes, sausage, and bacon together.
At the end of the breakfast, Dr. Stephen Carls, the chapter’s faculty advisor, gave each participant a package of Peeps and an explanatory note about the historical connection between Peeps and the Delta-Psi chapter. In addition to Carls, Phi Alpha Theta attendees included: Faith Bagley, Colby Benefield, Sarah Carroll, Dr. Alice-Catherine Carls, Allie Durham, Colton Gebben, Hannah Jones, Bree McCuin, Grace Morriss, Charles Snow, and Heather Stricklin.
The Jackson Old Hickory Rotary Club will use the proceeds from the breakfast to support the West Tennessee Therapy and Learning Center, Kindles for technology students in Tennessee, local youth programs, and Rotary International. Rotary International is dedicated to promoting global peace, providing educational opportunities, eradicating polio, and developing future leaders.
