Eleven members of Union’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta served as volunteers at the “Racing So They Can Ride” running event in Jackson on September 20, 2014. The Therapy and Learning Center of Jackson sponsored the occasion which consisted of competitive 5k and 10k races for men and women of all ages as well as a 1-mile fun run. The monies raised from the races went to support the hippotherapy program of the Center’s Rein-Bow Riding Academy.
The Delta-Psi chapter volunteers were: Dr. Henry Allen, Faith Bagley, Robert Briley, Dr. Stephen Carls, Sarah Carroll, Nick Hancock, Hannah Jones, Stephen Lewoczko, Shelby Pace, Charles Snow, and Kensie Zills. The volunteers enjoyed breakfast at a nearby Panera Bread following the race. They were joined there by Phi Alpha Theta member Dr. Alice-Catherine Carls who, as a participant in the 5k race, won the first-place trophy in her age category.
