Aug 26, 2016 - The history department launched the 2016-2017 school year at Union University by participating in several special events. On August 11, history faculty members had a working lunch at the home of Dr. Stephen Carls to discuss department plans for the fall semester.
On August 20, Carls represented the department at a new student dinner, sharing a table with history majors Katie Allison, Christopher Hearn, and Susannah Murphine. Two days later, Beth Adams, Kathryn Mitchell, and Jordan Sellers, officers in Union’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, manned the history department’s display table at the Student Organizations Fair; Mitchell also represented the Rutledge Honorary History Club. Finally, history faculty donned their academic regalia on August 26 to participate in Union’s annual fall convocation, where President Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver delivered the convocation address on “Do Justice.”
