Apr 20, 2017 - The Rutledge Honorary History Club sponsored a movie night on April 20, 2017. Eight club members, along with faculty advisor Dr. Terry Lindley, watched Bridge of Spies starring Tom Hanks. The film, based on a true story, dealt with American efforts to obtain the release of U.S. pilot Francis Gary Powers, whom the Soviet Union held captive after shooting down his U-2 spy plane over Soviet territory in 1960. A spy exchange involving Powers took place on the Glienicke Bridge in Berlin, Germany, in 1962. Students brought their own snacks, and a discussion of the film took place after its conclusion.
