Sep 14, 2017 - The Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society inducted two students into the organization at its fall plenary meeting on September 14. Vice President Katherine Cheshire conducted the initiation ceremony for new members Marylee Barker and Nakota Wood. Faculty Advisor Stephen Carls read a letter of congratulations from Dr. Graydon Tunstall, the executive director of the society.
Delta-Psi President Seth Reid led the chapter’s business meeting. He announced the society’s fall activities: volunteers at the “Racing So They Can Ride” 5K and 10K races to raise money for hippotherapy on September 16; the Carls-Schwerdfeger History Lectureship on October 19; Union’s Campus and Community Day on November 7; the French Christmas dinner on December 9; and the university’s fall graduation on December 16. Carls let students know about the 2018 national Phi Alpha Theta paper prizes and scholarships, and he encouraged members to participate in the 2018 national biennial convention in New Orleans on January 3-7.
The meeting ended with refreshments consisting of homemade peanut butter/chocolate chip cookies, Coca Cola, and water. Nine people attended the event.
