Delta-Psi Chapter Wins 15th Straight Phi Alpha Theta Best Chapter Award

Oct 9, 2017 - Union’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta received word from the society’s national office on October 9, 2017, that it had won a 2017 Best Chapter Award. This marks the 15th straight year that the chapter has achieved this prestigious honor, which includes a Nels A. Cleven distinction for having won five times or more. Dr. Graydon Tunstall, the society’s executive director, noted in his letter of congratulations that the members of the Delta-Psi chapter “have shown admirable dedication to the organization and truly exemplify the mission statement of Phi Alpha Theta.”

The Best Chapter Award consists of a certificate of achievement and a sum of $250 to purchase history books for Union University’s library. With this year’s prize money added, the Delta-Psi chapter will have contributed more than $3850 for new history books at Union. Chapter members choose what books to purchase every time the chapter wins the award.

The award attests to the high-quality program that the Delta-Psi chapter had under its 2016-2017 leadership team. Last year’s student officers were: Jordan Sellers, president; Kathryn Mitchell, vice president; Seth Reid, secretary; Beth Adams, senator; and Emily Littleton, senator.
