Delta-Psi Chapter Presents Phi Alpha Theta Check to Library

Dec 7, 2017 - The Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society presented a Best Chapter Award check for $250 to Union University’s library on December 7, 2017. Delta-Psi Vice President Katherine Cheshire gave the check to Library Director Melissa Moore to pay for 12 history books that chapter members chose for the library’s history collection. Dr. Stephen Carls, the chapter’s faculty advisor, also attended the event.

The books that the chapter purchased include: Max Arthur’s Churchill the Life: An Authorized Pictorial Biography; Michael Everett’s The Rise of Thomas Cromwell: Power and Politics in the Reign of Henry VIII; Neil Faulkner’s Lawrence of Arabia’s War: The Arabs, the British, and the Remaking of the Middle East in WWI; George Goodwin’s Benjamin Franklin in London: The British Life of America’s Founding Father; Dan Jones’ Magna Carta: The Birth of Liberty; Guy Laron’s The Six-Day War: The Breaking of the Middle East; Benjamin Madley’s An American Genocide: The United States and the California Indian Catastrophe; Leonardo Marques’ The United States and the Transatlantic Slave Trade to the Americas, 1776-1867; Serhii Plokhy’s The Gates of Europe: A History of Ukraine; John Rhodehamel’s George Washington: The Wonder of the Age; Ingrid von Oelhafen and Tim Tate’s Hitler’s Forgotten Children: The True Story of the Lebensborn Program and One Woman’s Search for Her Real Identity; and Caroline Winterer’s American Enlightenment: Pursuing Happiness in the Age of Reason.

This fall’s purchases mark the fifteenth straight year that the Delta-Psi chapter has given a $250 Best Chapter Award check to the library for the purchase of history books. Altogether, the chapter has contributed more than $3850 to buy books for the library’s history collection.
