Delta-Psi Chapter Wins 17th Straight Phi Alpha Theta Best Chapter Award

Nov 5, 2019 - Phi Alpha Theta national headquarters sent Dr. Stephen Carls, the faculty advisor of Union’s Delta-Psi chapter, an email on October 17 announcing that the chapter had won a 2019 Best Chapter Award for Division I schools (under 3,000 students). This represents the 17th straight year that the chapter has earned this honor, which included a Nels A. Cleven designation for having won the award five times or more.

In her announcement of the award, Interim Executive Director Wendy Tunstall stated that the members of Delta-Psi showed “admirable dedication to the organization and truly exemplify the mission statement of Phi Alpha Theta.”

In addition to a Best Chapter Award certificate, the chapter received a $250 prize with which to purchase history books for Union’s library. Phi Alpha Theta members went through the materials of several academic publishers in late October to recommend books for the library to buy. Based on members’ suggestions, the library ordered 11 books on November 5.

With this year’s prize money included, the Delta-Psi chapter has now contributed more than $4300 for history books in Union’s Library in the Logos.

The chapter highlighted this year’s success with a photo that shows President Luke Sower and Vice President Megan Ledbetter holding the framed 2019 Best Chapter Award certificate on November 5.
