May 16, 2020 - The history department recognized graduating history students and Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) members in April-May 2020 with awards, honor cords, and coffee mugs. Many of the presentations took place individually at Dr. Stephen Carls’s home, while several students received packages in the mail.
Award-winning students included: Luke Sower, who received the Phi Alpha Theta Academic Achievement Award with accompanying PAT Scholarship Key; Katie Allison and Christopher Hearn, who shared the History Major Award; William Hazlerig and Lillie Salazar, who were both honored with the History Minor Award; and Macon Bullock and Megan Ledbetter, who were the recipients of the History Student Teacher Award. In addition, Sower and Ledbetter received certificates of appreciation for their service as president and vice president respectively of Union’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta in 2019-2020. The department also gave a certificate of appreciation to Leah Atkins for her work as president of the Rutledge Honorary History Club in 2019-2020.
Graduating Phi Alpha Theta members received PAT honor cords and history department coffee mugs. They were Katie Allison, Leah Atkins, Alexandria Barger, Jennifer Briley, Macon Bullock, Audrey Cagle, Mac Hazlerig, Christopher Hearn, Megan Ledbetter, Hannah Ratliff, Lillie Salazar, Reagan Smith, and Luke Sower.
History majors graduating this spring and summer were given history coffee mugs. They included Katie Allison, Leah Atkins, Alexandria Barger, Taylor Brown, Macon Bullock, Audrey Cagle, Trey Hall, Christopher Hearn, Megan Ledbetter, Hannah Ratliff, Mikayla Simpson, and Luke Sower.
