Apr 30, 2021 - Two history majors received recognitions at Union University’s Awards Convocation on April 30, 2021. Savannah Wright accepted the Academic Excellence Medal in History from Dr. Stephen Carls during the program. Dr. John Netland, Union’s provost and convocation awards moderator, also announced William Walker Beasley as the first-place winner in the Dr. James Alex Baggett History Research Paper Competition, although Beasley was unable to attend the event. Beasley’s winning paper was titled “War and Chaos at a Place of Peace: The Battle of Shiloh and the Defeat of the Army of the Mississippi.”
