History Clubs Cosponsor Community Service Project at Liberty Garden Park

Nov 1, 2022 - The Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and the Rutledge Honorary History Club cosponsored a community service project at Liberty Garden Park on November 1, 2022, as part of Union University’s “Campus and Community: A Day of Remembrance and Service.”

The Union participants joined members of the Madison County Master Gardeners Club in tree pruning, shrub trimming, grass trimming, mulching, raking, and sweeping. The work project, which involved most of the morning, also included snacks consisting of homemade oatmeal cookies, Halloween candy, and bottled water. Tammy Buchanan-Anderson served as the event coordinator.

Eight students and four history department faculty members participated in the park project. The students were Makayla Baker, Breanna Edmiston, Abigail Gilbert, Anna Guelcher, Noah Kea, Lydia McGinnis, Anna Yadkowski, and Chris Young. Drs. Henry Allen, Keith Bates, Stephen Carls, and David Thomas were the history faculty representatives.
