Phi Alpha Theta

President
Nicholas Hancock is the president of Union's Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. A resident of Evington, Virginia, he is a history major with an English minor. Initiated into Phi Alpha Theta in September 2014, Hancock immediately became involved in Delta-Psi chapter activities. His first post-initiation PAT activity was as a volunteer at the "Racing So They Can Ride" fundraising event on September 20 to support hippotherapy in West Tennessee. He also attended the chapter's Best Chapter Award pizza party in October, and its French Christmas dinner in December. In the spring of 2015 he participated in a chapter-sponsored early bird dinner and Phi Alpha Theta plenary meeting in February, a chapter-supported Rotary breakfast and Franco-American bake sale in March, and the annual Delta-Psi Red T-shirt Spirit Day and history awards banquet in April. An international traveler, Hancock grew up in the Kingdom of Jordan and has visited Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey, and Israel. He has also been to the American Civil War battle areas of Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, and Appomattox. He has a particular interest in modern military history. In addition to Phi Alpha Theta, Hancock is a member of Alpha Psi Omega National Theatre Honor Society, Union University Life Groups, and the Union University Go Leadership Team.

Vice President
Allen Bradley is the vice president of Delta-Psi. A resident of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Bradley is an accounting major and a history minor. He became a member of Phi Alpha Theta in February 2014, and he has been a faithful part of the society ever since. He participated in Delta-Psi's Best Chapter Award pizza party in October and community service project at the Denmark Presbyterian Church in November. An accomplished bagpipe player, he provided a special music program on a set of shuttle pipes at the chapter's French Christmas dinner in December. Bradley was also involved in several of the chapter's activities in the spring of 2015, including the early bird dinner and the spring plenary meeting in February, the chapter-supported Rotary breakfast in March, and the Red T-shirt Spirit Day in April. He has served as a Life Group leader responsible for helping new students find their place at Union and a member of Students for Sustainability, an organization that promotes environmental awareness on campus and in the local community. As a student campus leader, Bradley is also vice president of the senior class and president of Union's chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, a national honorary business fraternity.

Secretary
Hollie Wilson is the secretary of Union's Delta-Psi chapter. Initiated into Phi Alpha Theta in February 2015, she participated in the society's Franco-American bake sale and the Red T-shirt Spirit Day during the spring of 2015. A teaching and learning major, she is from Halls, Tennessee. Wilson won the Miss Lauderdale County Pageant in April 2015, and has been very active in West Tennessee community events in that role. She is a member of Union University's chapter of Kappa Delta sorority, and she serves as the secretary/treasurer of the Panhellenic Council. Wilson has a special interest in the American Civil War. She hopes to become a teacher in her hometown of Halls after graduation.

Senator
Devin Dean is one of the Delta-Psi chapter's two senators on the Student Government Association at Union. Inducted into Phi Alpha Theta in February 2015, he participated in several of the chapter's spring 2015 activities. These included the chapter-supported Rotary breakfast in March, the annual Red T-shirt Spirit Day and history awards banquet in April, and the Phi Alpha Theta cookout in May. Dean is a member of the Rutledge Honorary History Club and Union's chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, where he holds the office of chaplain. He is also a Young Life leader and a Sunday school teacher at his hometown church in Huntingdon, Tennessee. His favorite historical time periods are the Italian Renaissance and the American Progressive Era. He plans to teach high school history after graduation.

Senator
Stephen Lewoczko is a Delta-Psi chapter senator on the Student Government Association. He is a history major with minors in professional education and psychology. Following his initiation into Phi Alpha Theta in September 2014, he engaged in many 2014-2015 Phi Alpha Theta events, including: the "Racing So They Can Ride" fundraising event as a volunteer; the Best Chapter Award pizza party; the French Christmas dinner; the spring initiation/plenary meeting; the Red T-shirt Spirit Day; the history awards banquet; and the 23rd annual spring cookout. In addition to Phi Alpha Theta, he is a member of the Rutledge Honorary History Club. He loves the sport of Frisbee and played in an ultimate Frisbee league in 2014-2015 with a team called the Union Jaxx. He lives in Medina, Tennessee, has a particular interest in Cold War history, and plans to teach high school history after graduating from Union.

Faculty Advisor
Dr. Stephen Carls is in his 33rd year as the faculty advisor to the Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. He is national president of the society. He has previously served as Phi Alpha Theta national vice president and as a member of both the society's national council and advisory board. He became a member of the society in 1970 while a graduate student at the University of Minnesota. Under his leadership, the Delta-Psi chapter has won multiple Best Chapter Awards.
