Criminal Justice Major

The interdisciplinary major (and minor) in Criminal Justice prepares students for careers in law enforcement on the basis of Union University's four core values:

  • Excellence-Driven: Criminal Justice is more than enforcing laws. True justice requires working to bring about the wholeness and peace that God intends for all people. Such a peace cannot be brought about solely through the mechanisms of law enforcement, though people become enabled to work for this greater end through an education that truly integrates faith and learning.
  • Christ-Centered: Understands the human person through the lens of Scripture and the Christian tradition.
  • People-Focused: Provides students with a broad understanding of people and human behavior by drawing on psychological and sociological perspectives.
  • Future-Directed: Prepares students to work within the current climate of law enforcement. Law enforcement has been plagued by abuses of power which have led to distrust. Future members of law enforcement must adopt a more grace-filled approach, enabling them to better understand and serve their communities.
