Tim Tebow, an All-American quarterback, is a respected leader in athletic circles as a National Champion and among Christian communities as a faithful witness. Well known for his outstanding athletic ability on the football field, Tebow is also admired for his consistent and public commitment to the Christian faith.
Tebow was born the last of five children to Bob and Pam Tebow on Aug. 14, 1987 in the Philippines, where his parents served as missionaries. Pam Tebow homeschooled all of her children, and also worked to instill the family's deep Christian beliefs along the way. As a home school student, Tebow participated in high school football in the Jacksonville area, where his talents were recognized. He later signed a letter of intent with the University of Florida, where his skills and leadership led the Gators to BCS National Championships during the 2006 and 2008 seasons.
While in college, Tebow accepted several prestigious awards such as the Heisman Trophy, Davey O' Brien Award, NCAA Quarterback of the Year, and two ESPYs for Best Male College Athlete. Following his sophomore season, Tebow was honored with the Sullivan Award, given to the nation's top amateur athlete based on character, leadership, and ability. He was also the first Division I quarterback to pass and rush for more than 20 touchdowns in a season.
Off the field, Tebow is also known for his commitment to serve those in need both at home and abroad. He is the founder of the Tim Tebow Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing "faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need." Through his organization, he has mobilized hundreds of college students to participate in aid work and raised funds for needy children in Asia, Florida, and Washington, D.C.
During the summer breaks of his college career, Tim participated with the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association, where he preached to thousands of students and served those in need.
