Cultural Engagement:  4th Annual Black History Month Program Cultural Engagement: 4th Annual Black History Month Program

Renita J. Weems, Ph.D. will serve as the keynote speaker for Union University's 4th Annual Black History Month Program. Dr. Weems is the Vice President of Academic Affairs at American Baptist College (Nashville, TN), but she formerly served as a member of the faculty of Vanderbilt University and William & Camille Cosby Visiting Professor at Spelman College. Dr. Weems earned her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA, and her Master and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, NJ. Her graduation in 1989 with a Ph.D. in Old Testament studies from Princeton made her the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in Old Testament. The theme of this year's program is Being the Change: African American Leaders from Civil War to Social Justice. The community is invited to attend.

Program Reception begins at 2:30 pm with the Program starting promptly at 3:00 pm.
