UNION UNIVERSITY TO HOST "HEARTS AND MINDS AFLAME" SPRING BIBLE CONFERENCE/JONES LECTURE SERIES APRIL 15-17

JACKSON, March 21--"Hearts and Minds Aflame," Union University's 25th annual Spring Bible Conference, will take place April 15-17 in the University's G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. The conference is co-sponsored by the University's annual Jones Lecture Series.

Program personalities include Frederick Sampson, pastor of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Bruce Corley, professor of Christian scripture at Truett Theological Seminary in Waco, Texas, and special music to be announced.

Sampson, a popular lecturer, was named one Ebony magazine's 15 greatest American black preachers. He is the author of a book titled The Romance of Theology in the Black Experience.

Corley joined the Truett faculty following a 19-year tenure at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he served as dean of the School of Theology from 1990 to 1995. Corley will return to Southwestern's faculty as professor of New Testament, effective June 1. The author of more than 25 books and essays, he is presently completing a commentary on Hebrews for the New American Commentary and editing Hermeneutics: a Comprehensive Introduction to the Interpretation of Scripture.

Services will take place at 10 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., with the exception of the Tuesday morning service, which begins at 9:25 a.m.

Audio tapes of the conference are available at a cost of $12 for three tapes of an individual speaker or $20.00 for a complete set of six.
