JACKSON, Tenn. — Dec. 14, 2009 — A record 346 students graduated from Union University Dec. 12 during commencement exercises of the 185th graduating class at West Jackson Baptist Church.
The number of graduates was up 78 from last December’s total.
Gene Fant, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, was the keynote speaker and encouraged graduates to live with musical hearts that are grateful to God for all things.
“The gospel is all about the tuning of our souls by the master musician who first tuned us,” Fant said. “When our hearts are in harmony with the song that God has planted throughout the world, how can we avoid them being conduits of his love and his encouragement?”
