JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 15, 2015 — The presidents of Union University and Lane College will hold a public conversation on racial reconciliation Jan. 19 at Agape Christian Fellowship in Jackson.

Union President Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver and Lane President Logan Hampton will lead “The Diversity and Reconciliation Dialogues: College and Community” to commemorate the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Todd Brady, Union’s vice president for university ministries, said recent events involving Michael Brown and Eric Garner are reminders of the need for racial reconciliation.

“I am hopeful that the dialogue with Dr. Hampton and Dr. Oliver will help us realize that education has a unique opportunity to address the issue of race, mount efforts toward reconciliation and serve as a source of healing and hope in America’s fractured communities,” Brady said.

The event is open to the public and will begin at 6:30 p.m. Agape Christian Fellowship is located at 600 N. Parkway in Jackson.
