JACKSON, Tenn.Aug. 16, 2018 — Cam Presley won’t be moving far when he moves into Union’s campus housing Aug. 17, but he says it will be the start of a completely new chapter in his life.

He is one of about 450 new students who will move onto the Union campus during Welcome Week.

As a native of Jackson and graduate of Trinity Christian Academy, Cam says he always had Union on his list of potential colleges because he knew it was a good school. His parents, Trent and Trudi, are Union graduates, and his older sister, Lauren, is a current student.

Cam says he was hesitant about attending Union because of cost and because he wanted a new start in college, and he thought staying in Jackson might not provide that. But things fell into place for him when he attended Union’s Scholars of Excellence weekend. He was awarded an academic scholarship that eased the financial burden, and he experienced the Union community first-hand.

“I had a lot of fun and met a lot of new people at Scholars weekend and at orientation, and I’ve already made some friends,” Cam says. “I realized that even though I’m in the same place, there will be new people all around me.”

Though Cam has not yet declared a major, he says he is excited to explore the options in his core classes in the coming semester.

“I know there are plenty of great major options for me here, and no matter what, I’ll get a good education.” he says. “I’m ready to get started.”
