JACKSON, Tenn.April 23, 2019 — Singer and songwriter Chris Tomlin will provide the featured performance at the 22nd annual Union University Scholarship Banquet Oct. 15 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.

The evening will consist of an extended interview and concert with Tomlin, whose songs include such favorites as “Resurrection Power,” “Good Good Father” and “How Great is Our God.”

“The Scholarship Banquet has tried to highlight people who have been influential in our culture, and Chris Tomlin is certainly someone who has impacted worship and people’s understanding of the Lord,” Union University President Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver said. “We’re grateful that we’re going to have an opportunity to hear from him and have him at Union this fall.”

Tomlin has sold more than 8 million albums and 11.3 million digital tracks with 16 No. 1 singles. He has won multiple Grammy, American Music, Billboard Music, Dove and BMI Songwriter of the Year awards, and his tours have sold out venues in major cities including New York City’s Madison Square Garden, the Forum in Los Angeles and Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, among others.

It is estimated that each week, 20-30 million people sing one of Tomlin’s songs in worship. Tomlin recently become one of only four artists to ever receive the Sound Exchange Digital Radio Award for more than 1 billion digital radio streams, joining Justin Timberlake, Pitbull and Garth Brooks in receiving that honor.

The annual Scholarship Banquet has become one of the premier events in West Tennessee each year with leading businesses and individuals as sponsors. BancorpSouth is again the lead sponsor for the 2019 banquet.

Other sponsorships for the event are available at various levels. For ticket information, including table sponsorships and individual balcony seating, contact Union’s Office of Institutional Advancement at (731) 661-5050 or visit www.uu.edu/events/scholarshipbanquet/2019.
