625 to graduate from Union May 18

JACKSON, Tenn.May 17, 2019 — Brent Ellis, president of Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan, will be the keynote speaker at Union University’s 194th annual spring commencement May 18.

About 625 students will receive their degrees during the two ceremonies.

Ellis has served as Spring Arbor president since 2013. Prior to his presidency, Ellis was Spring Arbor’s special assistant to the president and then vice president for university advancement. He previously served as dean for the Center for the Development of Christian Leadership at LeTourneau University and as director of leadership development and student programs at Taylor University.

Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in pastoral ministry from Greenville College, master’s degrees from Asbury Theological Seminary and Bethel College and a doctorate in higher education administration from Indiana University. He and his wife Christy have three children, and their son Charlie will be one of the Union graduates at the ceremony.

The graduation ceremony for graduate and Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership students will begin at 2 p.m. The ceremony for all undergraduates (excluding BSOL students) will begin at 6 p.m. Both ceremonies will take place at on Union’s Great Lawn and will be shown live at livestream.com/uu/commencement.
