JACKSON, Tenn. — Aug. 18, 2021 — Jackson Seal Coaters, an asphalt sealing company in Jackson, Tenn., donated their services to help reseal and pave Union University’s outdoor basketball court.
Lee Simmons, owner of Jackson Seal Coaters, said it is an honor to donate this work to a Christian institution like Union and to such an important part of Jackson’s community.
Simmons, a former Union student, said Union was always a good influence in his life, and he saw how well the community loved and cared for him as a student.
“I had just lost my dad when I came to Union, and they took me under their wings and supported me,” Simmons said. “It's always been a special place for me.”
Jackson Seal Coaters has worked alongside Union for nearly four years, using their innovative asphalt preservation tools and techniques to maintain much of the university’s pavements, and they look forward to the continuous collaboration with the university.
Jonathan Wilson, director for campus recreation at Union University, said he is thankful for Simmons and his company for investing in the health and beauty of Union’s campus.
“We hope fixing these areas helps students take pride and ownership in our campus,” Wilson said. “We want our students to feel like this is home for them while they’re here, and I really do think [Simmons] is helping us by maintaining our space well.”
