JACKSON, Tenn.July 17, 2024 — Union University has appointed Dan Slater, who joined the Union University faculty in 2010, as dean of the university’s McAfee School of Business.

Slater replaces Karen Miller, who has chosen to return to the classroom after her service as the business dean.

“I’m thrilled that God has called Dan Slater to lead the McAfee School of Business into a new season,” Union Provost Jacob Shatzer said. “With a new building looming on the horizon, Dan will draw on his deep love for Union, his expertise in leadership and his passion for the Lord to guide the school’s faculty, staff and students to serve church and society.”

Slater began at Union as assistant professor of management. He was promoted to associate professor in 2015 and to professor of management in 2021. Prior to joining Union, he taught at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas.

Slater also served as a bill payment research analyst for J.P. Morgan Chase and as business administrator for Timbercreek Community Church, both in Springfield, Missouri.

A graduate of Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, with an undergraduate degree in Bible and ministry, Slater completed his Master of Business Administration degree from Missouri State University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in business administration-management from the University of Arkansas.

Slater and his wife Denise have been married for 25 years and are members of Englewood Baptist Church, attending at the Medina campus. They have triplet sons Easton, Dalton and Quinton, all of whom will be college freshmen this fall.
