JACKSON, Tenn.May 22, 2025 — A concert by Christian recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman will be the featured entertainment at the 27th annual Union University Scholarship Banquet Nov. 4 at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in Jackson.

In a career that has spanned more than three decades, Chapman is the most awarded artist in Christian music history. With 60 Dove Awards, five Grammy Awards, an American Music Award and a historic 50 No. 1 singles, he has sold more than 16 million albums.

“Steven Curtis Chapman has been one of the most consistent and faithful witnesses for Christ in Christian music for almost 40 years,” Union University President Samuel W. “Dub” Oliver said. “His songs have inspired and encouraged millions, and we’re looking forward to an evening that we trust will be a blessing to our friends and supporters as we celebrate their generosity in giving to Union.”

Chapman was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2024, the first Christian artist in history to hold that honor. He is also a recent recipient of the BMI Icon Award and is the first Christian music songwriter to receive that honor, joining a list that includes Dolly Parton, Sting, Paul Simon, Carole King and Stevie Nicks.

He and his wife Mary Beth founded Show Hope in 2003, a nonprofit organization that helps restore the hope of a family to orphans. He is the author of “Between Heaven and the Real World: My Story.”

The annual Scholarship Banquet is one of the premier events in West Tennessee each year with leading businesses and individuals as sponsors. FirstBank and Elite Contractors are the lead sponsors for the 2025 banquet.
