Clifton encourages local pastors to be faithful with what God has given

Union art gallery hosts exhibit on German Expressionism
September 17, 2025 - An exhibit curated by Sandra Bowden that features the work of German Expressionists is on display in the Union University art gallery through Nov. 13. “Was God Dead? Biblical Imagination in German Expressionist Prints” explores the question of why biblical imagery saturates Expressionist literature and the visual arts. The exhibit includes nearly 50 works from such artists as Max Beckmann, Lovis Corinth, Kathë Kollwitz, Otto Dix, Christian Rohlfs, Schmidt-Rottloff, Vassily Kandinsky, and Edvard Munch, among others. Handford to perform at annual McAfee Concert Sept. 30
September 12, 2025 - Kathrine Handford will be the featured guest organist at this year’s annual Carolyn Townsend McAfee Concert Sept. 30, presented by the Union University Department of Music. Handford has presented recitals in the United States, Canada, England, Italy, France and Scandinavia. She was the winner of the 35th International J.S. Bach Competition held at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and she received first prize in the John R. Rodland Scholarship Competition in New Jersey. Union’s annual Family Weekend set for Sept. 26-27
September 12, 2025 - Union University will host Family Weekend 2025, one of the university’s favorite annual traditions, Sept. 26-27 with a variety of events and activities for the whole family. The highlight of the weekend will be Union Night on the Great Lawn from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Saturday, with food trucks, a Ferris wheel, tents from various departments and student organizations and a fireworks display over Miller Tower. September 5, 2025 - Union University trustees during their Sept. 4-5 meeting on the Union campus recognized the service of three men ending their board tenure and celebrated the success of the Lady Bulldogs basketball team. Janney to deliver Carls-Schwerdfeger History Lectures Oct. 6
September 5, 2025 - Caroline Janney, the John L. Nau III Professor of the American Civil War at the University of Virginia, will be the speaker for the 28th annual Carls-Schwerdfeger History Lectures at Union University Oct. 6. Janney will deliver two lectures. Her first lecture, “When the Monuments Went Up: The Long Fight over Civil War Memory,” will begin at 2 p.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center.
