Accounting is About More Than Money
Accounting is considered the language of business, and professional accountants are in high demand. Studying accounting opens the door for students to pursue an array of opportunities in both accounting and other related business fields. With a focus on the integration of faith and learning, students learn how to integrate their faith, develop ethical business practices, and build their character along with their knowledge of business practices, problem solving, and analytical skills. You will complete at least one accounting internship prior to graduation and have very successful career outcomes upon graduation. You can also apply to the Master of Accountancy program your senior year and complete your requirements to sit for the CPA exam.

Madison's Story
"In a recent class we learned about techniques that are more profitable, yet not ethical. Dr. Miller emphasized how, as a Christian, we are commanded to be different and that applies to the business world. One day the business world will be my mission field and a huge way I can stand out is by being different through doing what is ethical instead of what's most profitable."

Uniform CPA Examination
All CPA candidates must pass the Uniform CPA Examination to qualify for a CPA certificate and license (i.e., permit to practice) to practice public accounting. While the exam is the same no matter where it's taken, every state/jurisdiction has its own set of education and experience requirements that individuals must meet.
If you intend to attain CPA licensure outside the state of Tennessee, please contact Dr. Karen C. Miller, Coordinator of Accountancy, for more information on the requirements specific to the state(s) in which you intend to be licensed.
