Sep 15, 2018 - Union’s Delta-Psi chapter of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society had several members serve as volunteers at the 10th annual “Racing So They Can Ride” 5k and 10k races that started and ended at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Jackson. Volunteers included Dr. Henry Allen (assisted by his son Matthew), Robert Briley, Dr. Stephen Carls, Lauren Butler, and Luke Sower. Dr. Alice-Catherine Carls ran in the 5k race and won a second-place trophy in her age group.
Funds raised from the event went to Jackson’s Rein-Bow Riding Academy that offers a hippotherapy program to help physically challenged individuals of all ages. The Riding Academy is part of the Therapy and Learning Center in Jackson which in turn is an affiliate of West Tennessee Healthcare.
