Union University trustees unanimously elected Dr. Samuel W. "Dub" Oliver as the institution's 16th president in February 2014. He previously served as president of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas-a position he had held since 2009. Prior to ETBU, Dr. Oliver served in several leadership roles at Baylor University, including vice president for student life.
Dr. Oliver received a bachelor's degree from Baylor, as well as a Master of Science degree in educational psychology and a Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration from Texas A&M.
Dr. Oliver is married to the former Susie Combs. Their daughter Callie is a member of the class of 2014 at Baylor.
Dr. Oliver is an ordained and licensed Baptist minister who enjoys visiting churches as a guest speaker.
